What it is

Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of the ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) fragment 4–7. It does not activate the HPA axis or raise cortisol. Instead, it increases BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) and NGF (nerve growth factor) in the brain, enhancing neuroplasticity and synaptic transmission. It also modulates dopamine and serotonin systems and exerts neuroprotective effects against ischaemic and oxidative damage.
