The body's principal antioxidant — a tripeptide produced naturally in every cell, responsible for neutralising oxidative stress, supporting detoxification pathways, and maintaining immune function. Studied for skin brightening and tone, liver and metabolic support, and cellular protection during demanding longevity or weight-loss protocols.

Compound overview

What it is

Glutathione (γ-L-glutamyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine) is the most abundant endogenous antioxidant in the body. It neutralises reactive oxygen species directly, regenerates other antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin E), conjugates toxins for hepatic excretion (Phase II detoxification), maintains protein thiol groups in their reduced state, and supports lymphocyte function. Glutathione levels decline with age, chronic illness, metabolic stress, and environmental toxin exposure. Injectable administration bypasses the significant first-pass metabolism that limits oral supplementation.

Oxidative stress markers decline. Liver detoxification capacity improves. Skin tone brightens — melanin synthesis is modulated when glutathione is present in sufficient quantities. Immune function normalises. In post-illness or demanding protocol contexts, cellular recovery accelerates. Injectable glutathione raises blood and tissue levels significantly more than oral supplementation.

Studied outcomes
  • Skin lightening and brightening with regular injectable administration in clinical studies
  • Improved liver function markers in hepatic stress and non-alcoholic fatty liver studies
  • Enhanced immune cell proliferation and function
  • Reduction in oxidative stress biomarkers (8-OHdG, MDA)
  • Hepatoprotective effects during chemotherapy and toxic exposure

Suitability

Who it's for

  • Skin brightening and tone improvement
  • Liver support during demanding longevity, fat-loss, or detox protocols
  • Post-illness or post-treatment antioxidant restoration
  • Immune support and cellular protection
  • Adjunct to any oxidative-stress-generating protocol
Who should avoid it
  • Pregnancy (use under medical supervision)
  • Those expecting results equivalent to prescription skin treatments — glutathione brightens gradually over consistent dosing
  • Oral supplementation is not equivalent — do not substitute oral for injectable if injectable outcomes are expected

Dosing guidance

Protocol guidance

Dose
600–1200mg per session
Frequency
2–3× per week
Cycle length
8–12 weeks for skin outcomes; ongoing for liver and antioxidant support
Route
Slow IV push (most common for skin outcomes) or subcutaneous injection
Timing
No strict timing

Safety

Contraindications & cautions

  • IV administration should be slow — rapid push can cause bronchospasm in sensitive individuals
  • May affect melanin synthesis — some skin areas may lighten unevenly at high consistent doses
  • Monitor liver enzymes if being used alongside hepatotoxic medications

Stacking

Pairs well with

Comprehensive cellular repair and antioxidant protocol — glutathione handles ROS, NAD+ handles DNA repair and energy

Skin brightening (glutathione) + collagen and elastin regeneration (GHK-Cu)

Combined immune and antioxidant support for post-illness recovery
